Privacy Policy

BookCloud is operated by Kurba Pty Ltd (ACN 697854569), registered in Australia. We’re building a reading companion for children growing up across languages. This page explains how we handle information on this website, bookcloud.app.

We keep BookCloud as quiet as the internet allows. There’s no account, no advertising, and no cross-site tracking. We do use one analytics tool, PostHog, to understand how the site is used — described in our Cookie Policy — and we never sell or share what we collect.

The reading app is in invite-only testing and not yet generally available. As it opens up — and as it gains accounts — this page will be updated, or replaced with a separate policy designed around the reading app and the children who’ll use it.

What we collect on this website

Almost nothing personal. You can read every page without giving us anything — we don’t ask for your name or email to browse, and you never see a signup wall.

The site does run anonymous analytics (PostHog) and your browser fetches a few files from third-party services. Both are described in full in our Cookie Policy.

When you email us

The “Get in touch” buttons open your email app with a pre-filled message to [email protected]. If you send it, we receive:

  • your email address,
  • whatever you choose to write to us,
  • and any signature or footer your email app adds automatically.

We use that to put you on the waitlist, to write back if you’ve asked us something, and — when we’re ready to onboard new families — to let you know. We don’t sell, share, or rent your email to anyone, and we don’t pass it to advertisers or data brokers. We keep your message until you ask us to remove it, or until we wind the waitlist down for good.

Other services your browser talks to

Beyond our own analytics, your browser fetches a few things from other services to render the page. Each of those services can see your IP address and the standard details your browser sends with any web request.

  • Cloudflare — serves and protects the site. May set a small security cookie (__cf_bm) to tell humans from bots.
  • PostHog — our analytics tool. Receives page URLs, click events, browser and device type, and your IP address (used to derive an approximate country). Hosted in the EU.
  • Google Fonts — serves the typefaces.
  • Tailwind CDN — serves the page styling.
  • Iconify — serves a small number of icons.
  • Supabase Storage — serves the illustration on the home page.

With the exception of PostHog (which sends us the anonymous usage data described above), we don’t receive analytics or reports from these services, and we don’t link anything they see back to you.

Children

BookCloud is a brand made for children, but this website is for the adults who care for them — parents, grandparents, and others who’d want to know when our reading product is ready. We don’t ask for, expect, or knowingly collect information from a child through this site. If you believe a child has sent us something through the “Get in touch” email, please let us know and we’ll delete it.

When the reading product launches, it will have its own privacy practices designed around children, and this page will point you to them.

Where your information lives

Kurba Pty Ltd is registered in Australia, so any email you send to us is read from there. The third-party services listed above operate globally and may process your browser’s requests through servers in other countries — this is just how the modern web works, and we can’t avoid it without breaking the page.

Your choices

Whatever you’ve sent us is yours to control. You can ask us to:

  • Show you what we have — we’ll tell you what’s in our inbox or waitlist tied to your email.
  • Correct it — if anything’s wrong, we’ll fix it.
  • Delete it — we’ll remove your email from the waitlist and our inbox.
  • Stop writing to you — reply “unsubscribe” or just ask, and we’ll stop.

Email [email protected] and we’ll handle it. We aim to respond within a few working days, and always within thirty.

Keeping things safe

We use well-known, well-maintained services (Cloudflare for the site, a mailbox protected by industry-standard authentication) and we don’t store information we don’t need. No system is perfectly secure, but we’ll do our part to keep things tidy and protected.

When this changes

If we change how we handle information — for example, when we add a real signup form or accounts when the product launches — we’ll update this page and refresh the date below. For significant changes that affect anyone already on the waitlist, we’ll email you first.
